Empower Slum Children Campaign on Ketto - http://ket.to/empowerslumchildren
What we are?
We are a team of energised youths
from Patna. We are working for the empowerment of children living in slums. We
run voluntary class for children for four days/week. The class run for one to
one and a half hour every day. Currently we are running six centres in
different localities of Patna. Children are ranging from class Nursery to V.
Total number of children being taught at these centres varies from 100 to 120
each month. We are doing this work for the past three years. We have made a
strong bond with the community living in slums, who are in no case responsible
for pathetic living conditions they are facing daily.
What we need?
We need specialised
educators/trainers who have expertise in educating slum children/out of school
children. This is crucial time in the life of this movement. If we do not get
some professionals then this effort may not produce high quality results we are
aiming for, because till today this work has been carried out by young and
enthusiastic volunteers only.
We hope that professional
trainers will successfully exploit the inner talents of the slum children who
are deprived of basic education. In period of two years, we expect that by
focussed training and dedicated efforts these children will be able to compete
anywhere and with any child living in his or her vicinity.
How much we need?
The trainer will be paid a sum of Rs.12000 as honorarium per month. In
two years, the consolidated sum will be Rs.2,88,000. This sum will be utilised
in next two years and the result will be evaluated after completion of two
years.
Why one
should donate?
You should donate if you are
interested in education of slum children who are the most vulnerable class of
citizens in a developing city. This effort will help the children learn some
skills like oration, sketching, painting, story telling, skitting etc. other
than reading, writing and calculating. This will in return help their parents
to understand the market and its nuances; household management and aesthetics of society.
